Cynthia's Wedding Invites

I'm writing this post in the midst of a big list of to-dos and projects and more projects! These days got very busy all of a sudden! We've got wedding invites projects, birthday invitations and cd covers to design! Plus, add to that, all or personal promotion that we are re-designing at the the moment, website, the blog (yes, the blog, we are currently making it nicer, organizing here and there and adding more fun stuff to our little place), bcards, etc!

Ok, that was just a little intro of what we're doing at the moment!

Now, here are Cynthia's invites, they where silk screened by Nate, we really recommend him, he does such a great job! We loved how they turned out, the colors, the detail on the printing is excellent. Also the style of design that Cynthia was looking for is one of our favorites!! Bright, bold and colorful!! The images shown here are digital but after we take a picture of the real thing I'll include it here so you can see more details.

These where the design options we presented to Cynthia for the invite

Latinas in Business!

Last Friday we went to an event organized by the LBWA (National Latina Business Women Association in Los Angeles... fiiiuuuuhhh, what a name!)

We had a great time and we always love to participate in these events in any way we can, this time we went as guests. This is our 2nd event this year and we love this association, we love to meet other latinas in business and be inspired by what they do and network with them, make friends, lots of opportunities here! If you are in LA we really recommend getting involved in this organization.

This event in particular was an award event celebrating the success of many latina business women. Here are some pictures of the reception after the ceremony, where we met our friends Vanessa and Chantal from Mi Casa, finantial services and we also met new friends!

We won an IKEA contest!! yeeeepiiii!!!

Did you hear that?. My husband Jorge and I won a contest that IKEA is doing to promote the movie MAMMA MIA. We are going to participate in a ceremony along with other 19 couples, some will be renewing their vows like us and others will be getting married right there at IKEA Burbank in California. Best part of all we will get prizes and an IKEA gift certificate of $500, plus the preview screening of the movie and a beautiful reception. Wow, I can't believe, we won all that.

Now, even though I'm pretty sure I manifested this prize out of all my crazy furnishing lists and obsessing decoration ideas after we moved this past November. I'm now so confused to what to get, what room should I start with?, and how to combine design unique ideas with IKEA clever stuff ?. Help!!! .... I know it's only $500 but shouldn't I take advantage and decorate the whole house?, ok. I might not be able to do that but I will take advantage of the decoration drive I'm experiencing and make my house cute and warm once and for all.

I love "before and after" photos, so for sure I will be showing you some of those. The hard part of it is choosing all the prizes t-o-g-e-t-h-e-r, but somehow I will manage to use my female skills to ge away with what I want, that's what I'm hoping.

In the mean time, these are the photos that inspired me in my IKEA search today

This is how I want the living room set up, a TV stand and some shelves or cabinets above the TV, I like the bottom one better so far.

By the way I'm Dariana the youngest sister, chau

Mystic Tantra

We have done a few flyers and posters for Nandu who is a Vedic Priest and Master Healer from Mystic Tantra. We love to work with him, it always flows so well, specially since he is also a great photographer and he usually wants to include one of his pictures in the design. I'm always amazed by the picture and I ask him, did your REALLY take this picture?? Well, after a while I don't doubt it, I'm sure and I'm always looking forward to the next project with him. Here are the flyers we've done.

Eye Candy

Welcome! This is a little part of our studio, the craft area.

For us as graphic artists and as individuals that just LOVE everything visually beautiful it is very important to work in a place that we think is visually entertaining and beautiful as well. Sometimes time goes by and there are areas of our studio that we know need work but just can't get to it as soon as we would like until we say STOP! We have to do something about it! So we did, and my sister Dariana has the special touch for this, she becomes "organizadora" at that point and there is nothing to distract her from it. She recently organized our crafting area and it's looking awesome, cute and nice.

It's definitely inspiring lots of new and fresh ideas for new products!! And there is still more decoration to add!! This is just the beginning so I will keep you posted and share other corners of our studio soon!

Eyes on US

Hola, we are two latina sisters from Venezuela. We are obsessed about design and paper and we love to share our vision with the world. Folklore eye is our design studio where all the creative process happens everyday within patterns, decorative paper, inspiring products, fabrics and Aha! moments.

We were always involved with arts and design, both of our parents are Architects and we were taken to a museum pretty much every weekend of our lives when we where growing up. In a way, by having design oriented parents you get random ways to look at daily life, for example my Dad will stare at a light post at the park for soo long that I would ask him: -what's wrong Dad? he would say: -it's such a great design!...see what I mean?...anyways, I'm Dariela, I’ve been working in the corporate world as a graphic designer since 1991, designing logos, brochures, packaging and anything you can imagine. I chose graphic design as a career first and my sister followed by looking at all my work, she saw me making all kinds of stuff, and you know how little sisters are, they can't help but imitating all you do. Although, I was never aware of how much she was learning by just watching me. Now it all makes sense and I realize that we balance each other out and when our creativity works together it's a perfect combination. We love to incorporate our culture and other world cultures into our vision and inspiration.

I'm Dariana, I wasn’t taken I was dragged to all the museums as a kid, I didn’t enjoy them at the time, what I did love was the plays at the theater which was also part of weekend trips. I was collecting all types of product packaging since I was very little. I mean I had a WHOLE wall of cereal boxes, drink bottles, food boxes and beer cans from all over the world. All this junk was in my bedroom in a beautiful display above my bed for almost ten years. There I was sitting on my bed asking myself, what should I dedicate my life to? My answer was there before my eyes and I didn’t know it!

I became a dancer (one of my most precious dreams) although I was still supposed to go to college and get a “formal” education. I choose Marketing. I continued my career as a dancer for a long time meanwhile I was working day jobs in the corporate world with my marketing skills. The Corporate world was definitely not for me. I felt more identified when I came home after work and our house was filled with art in many ways. My sister playing the piano and practicing her signing; she also went to music school for a long time and I went to watch her at lots of music concerts. She was also painting and creating all kinds of artwork even for family and friends as gifts! I knew at the bottom of my heart that I loved that too! After traveling around lots of countries, dancing sent me to Los Angeles where after a long journey, I finally found my true love: Paper Arts Design. All those days of visiting museums, going to plays and admiring art finally paid off!. I have many other passions, among them teaching Spanish. My love for Spanish lead me to developing a very unique and successful Language School. My sister says I have a very strong entrepreneurial spirit which helps to keep her and me on our toes.

We created this blog to share our vision and give life to our products. We will take you on our life journey, sometimes as designers and art admirers, sometimes as sisters or even just as Latinas! We hope we can inspire you as well as ourselves with or daily life and our designs.
